Staying longer than 183 days in any 12-month period will likely make you a tax resident of Iceland, subjecting worldwide income to local taxation. This visa strictly prohibits any work for Icelandic companies or on the local labor market. Comprehensive health insurance with at least €30,000 coverage is mandatory. Accommodation and general living costs are significantly higher than in most European countries. Rules can change; always verify the latest information directly on official government websites before applying or traveling.
Imagine beginning your day with a warm cup of coffee while watching the sunrise over dramatic fjords, volcanic black sands, or steaming geothermal fields. The Iceland Long-Term Remote Work Visa for Workers and Families grants you the freedom to work from anywhere in this extraordinary country of fire and ice, whether in a design-forward apartment in Reykjavík or a glass cabin under the Northern Lights. With some of the fastest internet speeds globally, a safe innovative society, a growing digital nomad community, and endless outdoor adventures, Iceland offers unmatched inspiration and work-life balance despite its higher living costs and unpredictable climate.
