Travel to Mauritius

COVID-19 testing requirements

Effective 1 October 2021, fully vaccinated travellers will be allowed to explore the island.

Rules for vaccinated passengers travelling to Mauritius

  • At least 14 days must have passed since you received the last required dose of any of the following vaccines: AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria or Covishield), Covaxin, Moderna, Pfizer BioNTech, Sinopharm, Sinovac and Sputnik V. Or at least 28 days have passed since you received a dose of the Janssen vaccine.
  • Travellers who have recovered from COVID0-19 must present proof of recovery and that they have received at least one dose of any of the approved vaccines at least 14 days before departure.

Before arrival in Mauritius you must:

  • Take a pre-departure COVID-19 PCR test within 72 hours before departure, the result of which should be negative
  • Have health insurance covering COVID-19 related costs (does not apply to Mauritian nationals and occupation or residence permit holder sand tourists flying with Emirates)
  • Complete your travel forms online. Only printed and signed forms will be accepted

On arrival in Mauritius you must:

If you are booked at a registered hotel

  • Take a COVID-19 rapid antigen test on arrival at the hotel
  • Take a COVID-19 rapid antigen test on day 5 at the hotel

If you are not booked at a registered hotel

  • Take a COVID-19 PCR test on arrival at the airport
  • Take a self-administered rapid antigen test on day 5

Rules for unvaccinated passengers travelling to Mauritius effective 1 October 2021

Before arrival in Mauritius you must:

  • Take a pre-departure COVID-19 PCR test within 72 hours before departure, the result of which should be negative
  • Have health insurance covering COVID-19 related costs (does not apply to Mauritian nationals and occupation or residence permit holders)
  • Book and pay for a 14-day in-room stay package at a designated hotel, including airport-hotel transfers and COVID-19 PCR testing on days 0, 7 and 14

Exemptions

Passengers under 18 years of age are currently exempted from vaccination and can stay with vaccinated adults.

Other information

Passengers must wear masks when disembarking from the plane.

Unvaccinated passengers transferring in/transiting through Mauritius

  • COVID-19 PCR test requirements are applicable as per the passenger’s destination.
  • Passengers with an overnight transfer/transit in Mauritius cannot stay in the terminal and must book a room at the Holiday Inn Airport Hotel.
  • Passengers whose transfer flight is on the same calendar day can stay in the terminal.

Travel from Mauritius

If you re travelling from Mauritius, you may be required to take a COVID 19 PCR test and submit additional documentation before departure. Please check the requirements before you travel.

COVID 19 testing requirements

It is mandatory for passengers to confirm the COVID 19 PCR testing requirements of their specific destination and present the test result certificate at check in.

COVID 19 PCR testing facilities provided by C-Care (Mauritius) Ltd. at a special rate of MUR 1,800 per person is available for Emirates customers from 22 November 21 till 31 May 2022.
