📋 How to apply

  1. Check requirements
    Confirm whether your nationality requires a Schengen visa for Portugal and identify the Portuguese consulate or VFS Global center responsible for your region.
  2. Prepare documents
    Collect all required documents listed above. Purchase comprehensive travel insurance and book refundable flights and accommodation.
  3. Complete application form
    Fill out the harmonized Schengen visa application form online using the VIDEX system and print it.
  4. Book appointment
    Schedule an appointment at the nearest Portuguese Visa Application Centre (VFS Global) or consulate. Appointments can fill up quickly — book 1–3 months before travel.
  5. Attend biometrics appointment
    Attend in person, submit your documents, pay the visa fee, and provide fingerprints (biometrics).
  6. Track and collect
    Track your application online. Once approved, collect your passport with the visa sticker.
  7. Travel to Portugal
    Print all documents and travel. At the border be ready to present your visa, return ticket, insurance, and proof of funds.

Yes. A Schengen visa issued by Portugal allows free travel to all 27 Schengen member states for the duration of its validity.

Yes. You must present travel insurance with at least €30,000 coverage that is valid for all Schengen countries for the entire duration of your stay.
