Thailand Elite Visa does not automatically confer the right to work or run a business. A separate Work Permit and company registration are mandatory. Foreign ownership is restricted in many sectors under the Foreign Business Act unless BOI promotion is obtained. Always use licensed lawyers and tax advisors. Misuse of the visa can lead to cancellation, fines, and bans.
Thailand stands out as an ideal launchpad for startups with its vibrant ecosystem in Bangkok, strategic ASEAN location, and government-backed initiatives like the Board of Investment (BOI) offering tax holidays. The country attracts significant venture capital in fintech, e-commerce, and deep tech, supported by top accelerators such as Techsauce and Startupbootcamp, along with co-working hubs like HUBBA. Entrepreneurs benefit from low operational costs, a talented multilingual workforce, and quality-of-life advantages, while the Thailand Elite Visa delivers long-term residency stability without frequent renewals.
