🦠 Iraq COVID-19 travel requirements

Travel to Iraq

With immediate effect, any passengers who have recently travelled to or through India or Bangladesh will not be permitted entry to Iraq.

If you are travelling to Iraq, you are required to take a COVID-19 PCR test and submit applicable documents before departure. Please also note that it is mandatory to wear facial masks throughout Baghdad (BGW) and Basra (BSR) airports.

Following passengers can travel to Iraq without an OK to board:

  • Passengers holding a valid sticker visa
  • Passengers holding a paper visa and a return ticket, and this will be under the responsibility of the passenger

Passengers holding a paper visa and one-way ticket require an OK to board approval. They must submit copies of their passport, PNR and visa 48 hours before their date of travel. The required documents must be submitted to:

Indian nationals may enter Baghdad provided they have not been in India in the last 14 days prior to entry into Baghdad and they are subject to 7 days quarantine at their respective work location.

Indian nationals may enter Basra provided that they are working for an Oil Company and that they have not been in India within 14 days before travel to Basra. They must hold a letter of support from the respective "Basra Oil Company", including a complete passenger list.

COVID-19 PCR testing

All passengers traveling to Iraq must have a printed medical certificate with a negative coronavirus COVID-19 PCR test or RT-PCR test result. The test must have been taken at most 72 hours before departure and the certificate must be in Arabic or English.

Passengers travelling from Canada to Iraq must have a negative COVID-19 PCR test or COVID-19 RT-PCR test result. The test must have been taken at most 96 hours before departure and the certificate must be in Arabic or English. This requirement is applicable for direct or transfer flights e.g. passengers booked on a direct flight from Canada to Iraq or who are transferring/ transiting in Dubai on a flight from Canada to Iraq via Dubai.

Quarantine rules

Nationals of the following countries, regardless of their residency status, must follow the above regulations to enter Iraq. This category of passengers are subject to a 14 day quarantine in their home, working camps or hotels until a negative COVID-19 PCR test result has been received.

Exemptions

All children under the age of 10 departing or arriving to Iraq are exempt from COVID-19 PCR test requirements.

Entry exceptions are granted for Diplomats, Official Government Delegations and working employees of International Organizations and Associations.

Travel from Iraq

If you are travelling from Iraq, you will be required to take a COVID-19 PCR test before travel. UN Medical Clinic COVID-19 PCR certificates are accepted for UN staff only.

Also note that it is mandatory to wear facial masks throughout Baghdad (BGW) and Basra (BSR) airports.

Passengers have to register their COVID-19 PCR test result on Iraq Mosafer prior to travel.

All staff and passengers will be subject to thermal scanning and any passenger who shows symptoms of flu will not be allowed to check?in. They will then be taken to a medical centre for further testing.
