Travel to Nigeria

If you are travelling to Nigeria, you are required to take a COVID-19 PCR test and provide information, as well as documents, on the Nigerian International Travel Portal before departure.

COVID-19 testing requirements

All passengers travelling to Nigeria must test negative for COVID-19 in the country of departure. The COVID-19 PCR test must be done within 72 hours of departure at government specified laboratories in the respective departure country. Children of the age ten (10) and below are exempt from the COVID-19 PCR testing.

Passengers must present two documents before boarding: a copy of the COVID-19 PCR test certificate and the Permit to Travel Certificate/QR code generated on the Nigerian International Travel Portal. On arrival, passengers are to undergo mandatory self-isolation for 7 days and take a second COVID-19 PCR test on day 7 of arrival.

Nigeria International Travel Portal – Before departure

All passengers must register and provide required information on the Nigerian International Travel Portal, including diplomats and children aged ten 10 and below. Children below 10 years old are exempted from uploading negative COVID-19 PCR test results.

Passengers are required to pre-pay for their mandatory second COVID-19 PCR test to be done on day 7 after arrival in Nigeria. Diplomats and children below 10 years old are exempted from pre-paying for the second mandatory COVID-19 PCR test.

Passengers who are unable to present the travel permit with a “paid” status for the second COVID-19 PCR test at the time of check-in will be required to make payment upon arrival in Nigeria. Travel permits with “unpaid” status are acceptable for travel.

Guidelines specific to passengers arriving from Turkey, Brazil and South Africa

Foreign nationals who have visited Turkey, Brazil or South Africa within fourteen 14 days of travel to Nigeria will denied entry. This restriction does apply to passengers who transited through these countries.

Nigerians and resident permit holders who have visited Turkey, Brazil or South Africa within fourteen 14 days of travel to Nigeria will undergo a 7-day mandatory quarantine at a government approved facility at their own expense. COVID-19 PCR tests will be carried out on days 1 and 7 of arriving in Nigeria.
