⚠ Unfortunately, Iceland does not yet offer digital nomad visas. If you want to stay in Iceland longer, consider the following options:
Who can take a long-term visa for remote workers in Iceland?
- The applicant is from a country outside the EU/EEA/EFTA. (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland).
- The applicant does not need a visa to travel to Iceland.
- The applicant has not been issued a long-term visa in the last 12 months by Icelandic authorities.
- The purpose of stay is to work remotely from Iceland.
- The applicant does not intend to reside in Iceland for the long term.
Long-term visa can be issued for up to 180 days.
Monthly income is equivalent to ISK 1.000.000 (~$7315) or ISK 1.300.000 (~$9509), if also applying for an accompanying spouse or cohabiting partner
Processing fee ~$90.

- Payment receipt
- Application form
- Passport photo (35mmX45mm), not older than six months.
- Copies of passport
- Health insurance
- Purpose of stay in Iceland. To work remotely in Iceland, you must have confirmation from your employer stating that you are authorized to perform your work remotely in Iceland or confirmation that you are verifiably self-employed in the country in which you have permanent residence or work normally.
- Income. Confirmation that income from remote working will correspond to ISK ~ 6 900 EUR per month.
- Criminal record check
- Proof of incomе. To work remotely in Iceland, an employee can present an employment contract with information on the monthly salary. As a self-employed person, you can show a contract for the project(s) you intend to work on remotely and the agreed payment(s). Note that if you are also applying for a spouse or cohabiting partner, the income for the remote work must correspond to ~ 9 100 EUR per month.
