Applicants must prove they can work remotely, using telecoms. Applicants must be third country nationals and proove prove they can work remotely.

Virtual working programme is valid for 1 year.

Applicant must to have contract employer with registered in a foreign country. Applicant can has own business registered in a foreign country. Also applicant can offer freelance or consulting services, to clients whose permanent establishments are in a foreign country.

Persons contracted by a foreign company and giving services to the company’s Maltese subsidiary are not eligible for the Nomad Residence Permit.

The application is submitted via email on nomad.residencymalta@gov.mt along with supporting documentation.

βœ” Checklist of required documents

  • Application Form
  • Letter of Intent – a signed and dated declaration by the Main Applicant clearly stating the motivations for moving to Malta and the intention of applying for the Nomad Residence Permit. The letter should also include the list of documentation which will be submitted at application stage to support the application.
  • Passport
  • Copy of all passport pages (including blank pages)
  • In case of employment – a contract of employment clearly showing obligations to the employer and describing work duties.
  • In case of self-employment – applicant is to provide bank statement of an account in his/her own name clearly showing the income from the self-employment for the previous three (3) months as evidence of being able to satisfy the qualification criteria.
  • In case of freelance – applicant is to submit service contracts clearly showing obligations to the service receiver, the work duties performed and rate of payment.
  • Curriculum Vitae – disclosing full details of professional timeline and academic qualifications.
  • Bank Statement - of the account in the name of Main Applicant, showing main source of income in the past three (3) months. These should be official bank statements, either downloaded directly in PDF format from the internet/web banking portals/bank apps or scanned copies of officially stamped and signed hardcopies issued by the bank.
  • Marriage Certificate - in the case of spouse accompanying the Main Applicant
  • Proof of Accommodation – Main Applicant will be requested to submit proof of accommodation covering the full duration of the residence permit.
  • Local/international health insurance policy – a fully-comprehensive health insurance policy, covering the applicant and all beneficiaries of the Nomad Residence Permit for one (1) year.
