This allows immigrants to work for foreign employers while residing in Brazil without the need for formal employment registration in the country. This special visa is named "Visa - digital nomad" (VITEM XIV).

The Visa - digital nomad provides an initial one-year period of residence, with the possibility of renewal for an additional year. To apply for this visa, immigrants can use the MigranteWeb System, an online platform provided by the Justice Ministry.

To qualify as a digital nomad under this visa category, applicants must demonstrate certain conditions. This includes presenting a work or service contract and other documents that establish their employment relationship with the foreign employer. Additionally, applicants need to prove that they have sufficient financial means to support themselves while living in Brazil.

It is essential for various purposes, such as travel, work, or study abroad. Just remember, it's only valid for 90 days, so make sure to get it apostilled promptly!

  • Travel insurance, including medical insurance
  • Declaration of the applicant who attests to the ability to perform his/her professional activities remotely, through information and communication technologies (in English or Portuguese).
  • Employment contract, or contract for provision of services, or other documents proving the link with a foreign employer or client (in English or Portuguese)
  • Proof of means of subsistence, in a monthly amount equal to or greater than USD 1,500.00 (one thousand five hundred U.S. dollars) OR availability of bank funds in the amount of USD 18,000.00 (eighteen thousand U.S. dollars).
