The Digital Nomad Visa is designed for individuals who work remotely or have freelance occupations that allow them to work from anywhere with an internet connection. It enables them to legally reside in Uruguay while continuing their remote work.

Holders of the Digital Nomad Visa are not allowed to work for Uruguayan employers or engage in local business activities. The visa is intended solely for remote work with clients or employers outside of Uruguay.

Digital Nomads can get a visa Uruguay for six months. To apply you need to confirm that you are working remotely. There are no minimum wage requirements. Additional documents do not need to provide. It is possible apply for a visa online. It is better to do it already in Uruguay, to be able to pay the visa fee on time (this should be done at the local bank within 24 hours after filling in the questionnaire).

After the visa expires, it can be extended. But to do that, you need to get vaccinations in Uruguay and collect criminal records from all the countries where you’ve lived for at least six months in the last five years.
